This is the same Shaniko wool that you know and love, except this base is superwashed. Shaniko wool is from Merino/Rambouillet sheep, and this fiber is extra special because it is grown, processed, and dyed entirely in the US. At 20.4 microns, this fiber is oh so soft and has great loft! Our 20.4 micron US Shaniko wool fiber has the softness of Merino wool but with a longer staple length, making it an easier introduction to fine wools for handspinning. Shaniko wool is an excellent choice for next-to-the-skin garments. This wool is superwashed, making it resistant to felting.
Handwash your finished yarn in cold water using a gentle wool wash like Soak or Eucalan. Hang or lay flat to dry. Before laundering your superwash wool garment in the washing machine, we recommend washing a small test swatch to see how the fibers handle agitation.
