Introducing U.S. Targhee Wool

I'm thrilled to introduce you to U.S. Targhee wool, a new wool offering here at 22 Mile Studio!

Targhee sheep were first developed in the 1920s at the USDA Sheep Experiment Station in Dubois, Idaho, by crossing Rambouillet rams with Corriedale and Lincoln/Rambouillet ewes with the goal of producing dual-purpose sheep that were a good match for the grazing lands in the high plains and the western U.S. These new sheep were named Targhee after the forest in Idaho where they grazed during the summer months. 

The Targhee wool I have sourced is a grown and processed into combed top here in the U.S. Targhee wool has the softness of a fine wool, and it's straightforward to spin thanks to its long wool heritage. The fiber diameter is 23 microns with a 3.25 inch staple length, which is similar to Polwarth wool. Targhee handspun yarn is soft, bouncy, and resilient - I think you are going to love it.
